The clients are native New Englanders returning home after a decade of living abroad. The house is a traditional Chestnut Hill Tudor that was in need of updating. The challenge was to preserve the fine architectural detailing of the residence while meeting the needs and aesthetics of a globe trotting 21st century family. Located off the coat area, the powder room is an exotic delight, ‘the 2 seconds of glam a guest experiences in this powder room is worth every tiny inch of the space!!! Responded our client when she first saw the powder room complete. We tried to eliminate the 4 corners of the small the room by wrapping the walls in dramatic French Elitis wall covering with an oversized pattern and bold color, which exudes a spectacular vibe. A sleek and elegant vessel sink evokes old master paintings of bathing women, while the cutout handle is wonderful reference to handmade ceramics. The vessel sink sits on top of a custom-made vanity designed as piece of furniture. The stunning fretwork mirror and crystal knobs add jewel-like sparkle to the room in a dashing textural contrast. This powder room is an experience that is unexpected yet breathtaking, and a wonderful nod to the client’s global aesthetic.
